Personal plea for help: Kaine’s Crossing
This is a personal plea for a friend of mine who tragically lost her 14 year old son Kaine May, who was killed at Flamingo Park on the A20 Sidcup Bypass on the 17th July 2011. Kaine needed to cross quick and it was a 15 minute walk to the right to cross over via a footbridge, so he decided to run, unfortunately he slipped on the grass verge and was hit by a speeding motorist. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There is a campaign to have a safe crossing erected in the hope that it may prevent any further tragedies. Please let's not let this ever happen again. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Please take the time to sign the online petition here:

Kaine's Mum Michelle posted this today:
WE ARE AT PRESENT ARRANGING TO MEET WITH SOME VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE AT THE SITE WHERE MY SON KAINE SADLY LOST HIS LIFE THE ONLINE PETITION HAS BEEN RECOGNISED IN PARLIAMENT AND OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED AND SO ANY MORE SIGNATURES THAT CAN BE OBTAINED ARE CRUCIAL. TRANSPORT FOR LONDON HAVE 14 REASONS AGAINST A CROSSING SO ANY POSITIVE SUGGESTIONS THAT MAY HELP TO QUASH THESE AND HELP PROMOTE THE CAUSE FOR THIS CROSSING PLEASE INBOX ME AND NOT TO HELP PROMOTE FENCING TO THE CENTRAL RESERVATION WHICH ONLY SERVED TO OBSCURE THE DRIVERS VIEW OF KAINE ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HELP WITH PERSONAL LETTERS TO PASS ON TO THE MP AND BORIS JOHNSON AGAIN PLEASE INBOX THANK YOU
PLEASE CLICK SHARE THIS IS FOR MY KAINE !!! XX
11 POINTS AGAINST KAINES CROSSING
IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD PLEASE CONTACT Michelle
1. They think people will only cross there 14 times a yr when bootfairs are at Flamingo Park and forgetting its used constantly with sports facilities crazy golf and an atractive colour waterfall enticing and fairs to which my Kaine was heading to unknown to myself
2. Footbridge 10 min walk from the housing estate which has a path leading from and directly onto the A20 main road where ther is no crossing and where my Kaine came from
3. Last pedestrian count outside Flamingo Park was done in summer 2006 30 movements sat 80 in a week day which i think is pointless in any one waisting time doing as when there is fair or a bootfair or any event numbers will be increased especially kids and in summer holidays.
4. If a signalised crossing was to be placed it would only be used 14 days yr which is rubbish if placed there more would use anytime and if not used frequently driver would be used to it being green lighted and fail to notice if turned red.
5. A point was made that a croosing was outside the main entrance of Kaines school Kemnal technical collage and that it wasn't duel carriage way which i have photgraphic evidence that it is
6. Transport for London do not consider it appropriate to reduce speed limit at that location although i was told by police it is 40 mph and transport for london have put foot in it by stating that A20 speed limit is between 40 and 50 although average speeds are likely to be higher.
7. Transport for London is legally obliged to make any facilities it provides fully accessible however not sufficient space for footbridge near Flamingo Park my point whats wrong with a crossing and more than one design for footbridge
8. In line with national casulty reduction targets and because Transport for London only have limited resorces TFL priorities fnding to locations where the number of collissions is above the borough average how is that an against they considered an underpass but
9. They are stating that they cannot close footpath from housing onto road for cyclists again how is this an against they need to provide a crossing !
10. Fencing to central reservation they want to errect is designed to deter people and admit it won't if undetered like Kaine again how is that an against why waist money putting up more when they state this use it on a crossing !
11. They propose to go ahead with fencing that helped kill my son by apparently obscuring the drivers vision of him .
From Kaine's Mum:
Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions. Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever.
Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top. When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.
So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed. Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended. But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life!
I know Kaine I 'll see you again xxx

New WOMPS site – 12,000 miles away!
Our most recent project was to provide a new website for Womps Mobile Preschool in Australia. An old school friend visited the UK recently and we met up for coffee where she told me of her involvement in the Womps Mobile Preschool. She then asked if I could help them get a new website built as the old one was in need of a 'freshen up' and I was trilled to take up the challenge and see what we could do to help this great service...This project was managed using only email and Facebook messages - that's how we roll.
Womps are by far our furthest customer - 12,000 miles away proves that distance is no object for the CanDoNetwork!
Here's the site: http://womps.org.au
Here's how it was done:
1. Pointed the existing domain name's DNS to our servers and created a new hosting package.
2. Installed WordPress and configured the core system and added page content.
3. Found a suitable theme and edited it to include the WOMPS logo and 'stick man' style
4. Set up contact form and email address
5. Added Google Maps to the locations of the mobile service
6. Added the All In One SEO plug-in (to improve Google rankings)
7. Added Google XML Site maps plug-in (to improve Google rankings)
8. Added live site traffic widget
9. Added CanDoNetwork link
10. Tweaked the CSS style sheets to suit the womps theme
Basically, we are now looking at a working site which is easy to navigate, fresh and friendly looking with blogging facilities. The site can now be managed by the womps staff using their own login to allow for the posting of news, article, images and video without the need for technical knowledge. Of course, CanDoNetwork will be here for support, as we are with all our sites.
That's what we do, we translate the client's wishes into reality, resulting in properly coded, Google friendly, simple to use websites to suit their given purposes. Tell us what you want and leave it to us.

WordPress set up from vanilla install
This is how we like to set up a WordPress blog from scratch.
1. Install WordPress using Cpanel's 'Fantastico' auto installer. Note down your admin login details!
2. Login to your 'Dashboard' and look for any system updates at the top, install the latest core updates if required.
3. Go to the 'Appearance'/'Themes' tab - Choose 'Install Themes' if you want to search for a new theme.
4. Go to 'Settings'/ 'General' and edit your site name and description, timezone & date format
5. Edit 'Reading Settings' to show static page or latest blog post as your landing page.
6. In 'Settings'/'Discussion' un-tick 'Allow people to post comments on new articles' and set 'Before a comment appears' to 'An administrator must always approve the comment', in 'Avatar Display', select 'don't show' and in 'Default Avatar' select 'blank'
7. In 'Permalinks', change to MONTH AND NAME
8. In 'Posts/Categories', set categories to 'site news' or your own choice.
9. Visit all existing posts and pages (there should be 2) and un-tick 'allow comments' - go to 'screen options' at the top and tick 'discussion' to show the 'comments options' at the bottom.
Page order - For example, set your contact page to '9' and consider the other page orders (this option is found on the right hand side of page when in edit page mode)
That's the basic stuff covered, now edit the theme, add images, posts, pages, widgets etc. Read on for our suggested plug-ins list...
Export PHPBB3 users using PhpMyAdmin
Login to your websites cpanel and go to 'PhpMyAdmin' (located under 'DATABASES')
Select the _phpb1 database (these names can vary so just look at the databases to establish the correct one for your site)
Click the 'SQL Query' button to open a new SQL query window. This allows you to execute a new SQL query.

Paste this code in the query window:
FROM phpbb_users
WHERE user_email <> '' AND user_type <> 1
ORDER BY user_regdate ASC
When the list of emails is displayed, go to the bottom of the page and click the blue 'CHECK ALL' link.

Click EXPORT (just below the above link)
Select 'CSV for MS Excel', choose 'save as file' and hit GO on the right hand side at the bottom.
This will export to a file that will open in MS Excell - there are other options, adjust your selection depending on your own requirements.
Mugshot Pics
Have you ever had your mugshot taken by the police? I hope not! Here's an easy way to see how you'd look, without the criminal record!
I started making these a few years ago using Photoshop 7 for a laugh. I'd been trying to find one to 'edit' but there were no good quality images around at the time. I'd been playing around with Photoshop and figured that I could use layers to make the images easy to add and edit new face pictures to create new mugshot images.
What’s the difference between http and https?
What is the difference between http and https?
The main difference between http:/// <http://> and https:// is it’s all about keeping you secure
HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
The S stands for "Secure"...
If you visit a website or web page, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.
This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecured language. In other words, it is possible for someone to” eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website. If you fill out a form
on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.
This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!
But if the web address begins with https:// that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure
code that no one can eavesdrop on. You understand why this is so important, right?
If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://.
If it doesn't, You should NEVER enter sensitive information....such as a credit card number.
